Anthropic takes the top three spots on AA Benchmark, intermediate model included

Posts on X from the user Chubby, repeated three times in a row, claim Anthropic now holds the first, second and third positions on AA Benchmark — and that the company's mid-tier model, not its flagship, is one of them. No full results, methodology or exact model versions have been published officially.

AA Benchmark tests reasoning, coding and instruction-following in large language models. That a mid-range model cracks the top tier suggests training efficiency and an architecture that squeezes more out of the available compute. Without transparency around the dataset, prompts and variance metrics, though, it's hard to tell whether the lead is stable or just over-fitting to this particular test.

OpenAI's DevDay is tomorrow. The annual event is where the company typically unveils new capabilities, models or developer tools. The posts frame it as a make-or-break moment: if OpenAI shows a model that leapfrogs Anthropic's current lead, the keynote counts as a win; if not, the conference risks looking like it's happening in Anthropic's shadow. The writer compares the mood to every game studio rushing to ship before GTA 6 — an industry holding its breath for the next big move.

The writer argues OpenAI holds a significant compute advantage and predicts it will overtake Anthropic this year. At the same time, they speculate that without Elon Musk's involvement — meaning xAI and its Grok model — Anthropic wouldn't be able to close the hardware gap. That's a speculative read built on assumptions about training budgets and chip access, not public data.

What's missing: no numerical scores, no sample sizes, no third-party verification. No breakdowns for coding, math reasoning or multilingual performance. Until full results and independent replication appear, the AA Benchmark lead is an interesting signal, not proof of general superiority.
