Xpeng targets mass production of Iron humanoid this year, first deliveries Q1 2027

A post from Chubby on X says Xpeng will move its Iron humanoid into volume production before 2025 ends, with customer shipments starting in the first quarter of 2027. The company itself calls 2027 the start of the "humanoid robot era" — a claim that carries no independent verification.
Volume production is the real cliff in this space. Demos are cheap; fleets are not. If Xpeng hits the schedule, the bottleneck shifts from engineering to field uptime and spare-parts logistics — two metrics that don't show up in a slide deck.
The announcement comes without benchmarks, a technical spec sheet for Iron, or any description of the first work environment beyond Xpeng's own factory. No MTBF figures, no unit cost, no evidence of continuous operation outside a controlled setting. At this stage it's a statement of intent.
The practical question remains: where does Iron ship first outside Xpeng's production line? Until multiple customers run the robot over months in the field, "humanoid robot era" is a marketing label, not an operational reality.
