Anthropic's Fable 5.5 identifier surfaces in Azure API via LiteLLM

A model identifier labeled "Fable 5.5" appeared in LiteLLM's GitHub repository for Microsoft Azure's model interface, according to a post by user Chubby on X. The recorded configuration — token limits, pricing, and every other technical parameter — matches Fable 5.1 exactly; only the version string suggests a newer release.

LiteLLM is an open-source library that routes calls to hundreds of models through a single API. Its registry data has previously served as an early signal for unannounced launches.

The GitHub entry lists Fable 5.5 as available on Azure, but the wholesale copy of 5.1's specs points to infrastructure staging or internal testing rather than a live release. The original source, referred to as "Alex" in the post, has not been further identified. Chubby explicitly stated they could confirm nothing beyond the identifier's presence in the data.

The report frames the finding alongside claimed strong performance from "Meta Muse Wonder Full" — likely a reference to an advanced Meta model — and the anticipated launch of Google's Gemini 4. The author speculates that the sequence hints at Anthropic laying groundwork for an IPO and a broad commercial rollout. That is pure speculation; Anthropic has not disclosed IPO plans, and nothing in the LiteLLM data corroborates the claim.

An identifier in a major cloud provider's interface is not a launch. It may reflect technical preparation, compatibility testing, or a configuration error. Until Anthropic or Microsoft issue an official announcement — complete with benchmarks, pricing, regional availability, and usage limits — developers and users have no actionable information. Fable 5.1 remains the only verified version.
