Revelio Labs reports AI-exposed job demand falls 42% versus less automatable roles

Revelio Labs’ July 2026 employment market index shows demand for positions classified as “AI-exposed” fell 42% compared with positions that are less susceptible to automation. The same index shows that, within firms that have already adopted the technology, total headcount grew 27% faster than in companies that have not adopted AI, indicating a reallocation of functions rather than outright job elimination. At the same time, enrollment in computer-science and IT programs declined 28% relative to 2022, a drop that coincides with an increasing share of tasks in existing roles being performed with AI tools.

The pattern aligns with earlier LinkedIn reports that identified growth in hybrid roles where the ability to work with models is becoming baseline literacy rather than a distinct occupation. Revelio’s methodology relies on real-time analysis of job postings and employee profiles, so the figures reflect expressed demand rather than actual hires. The data cover only the U.S. market and exclude public-sector jobs and workers without a visible digital profile.
