Microsoft shifts strategy as consumer Copilot merges into Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft is changing its strategic direction by integrating the consumer Copilot app directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot. The move eliminates features that were previously deemed unsuccessful. Microsoft says the integration is intended to simplify the user experience and make Copilot a stronger competitor to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. The company announced that, effective 18 August 2026, the consumer Copilot app will be fully merged into Microsoft 365 Copilot.
