GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst now available in Direct Mode on LMSYS Chatbot Arena

The GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst model has been opened for direct use on the LMSYS Chatbot Arena comparison platform. Users can now submit prompts and receive images straight from the model, without a chat interface or additional processing layer in between.

What Direct Mode means

In Direct Mode the request reaches the image model as-is, with no pre-processing or system-prompt wrapping. This allows a cleaner comparison between image models that operate the same way on the Arena, and it surfaces the model’s raw behavior — for better or worse.

Privacy and data use

According to the launch notice, conversations and certain personal information will be passed to the relevant AI providers and may be published publicly to support the community and advance research. The system also uses conversations for automated evaluation: prompts are sent to providers at a later date to rank and compare models. Anyone who wants to opt out of that use can email the address provided in the notice.

The notice explicitly asks users not to enter personal or sensitive information they would not want shared publicly. Use of the service constitutes consent to such sharing.
